Well as I said in my blog yesterday, I had my good friend Darren Bremner coming down for a couple of days fishing. It really was a great couple of days, we had some cracking sport, as once again the Sharks decided to play ball!
We landed Black Tips to around 70lb, Nurse Sharks to 50-60lb, a 225lb Bull Shark and several Lemon Sharks to 140lb. We did also manage that monster I had been waiting for, that fish of a lifetime.
We had been sitting on one of my favourite marks for around an hour and a half, when all of a sudden the right hand rod started to scream off. The fish took yards and yards of line on its first run, the power of the fish was immense as it forced its way up tide. After a 25 minute battle, the fish was beat, as Darren brought it up to the side of the boat, we were both gobsmacked, it was a huge Lemon Shark, it was easily over 10ft long and I estimated it to be well over 400lb, a colossal fish, by anyone’s standard! We tried to get the fish on board so Darren could have a picture, but this proved almost impossible, so we released the fish and watched it swim back to its murky home.
Darren managed to get a few picture’s of the beast, but as his camera and wallet had been stolen a few days before at the airport, he had to make due with his Iphone camera. Not the best quality, but am sure it’s a memory he will never forget, describing the whole experience as the best 30 minutes he had, had fishing, for many many years.
So all in all a fantastic weekend, with great company!
Unfortunately I only have one week left, before I have to head home for a bit, but next week promises to be equally as action packed as the last. As I have Angling Direct Holidays new employee Paul Stevens down for a week, Paul will be experiencing the fishing, accommodation and destination for himself, so he can give a first hand experience to all customers who are interested in coming out and having a go! It looks set to be a good one!
I will keep you all updated, and fingers crossed for another fish like Darrens.
