We Break Our Very Own Indian Record With Over 550 Fish In Two Weeks!
Well we’re half way through the last week already, I can’t believe it! India for 2011 is nearly done! Anyway before I discuss this week, just a word on the last week, the buses all left on Saturday and what a happy buses they were! As the catch report for the last two weeks reads 550 fish, from small to 62lb, this is the record catch for any trip, for any year! Considering all the fuss which was made about India and fishing the Cauvery over the last year, this made for some very satisfying reading!
Anyway for this week, temperatures have started to rise and the river has started to drop, making for what I hope will prove to be optimum fishing conditions! Already this week there has been plenty of fish caught, just yesterday I fished with Ray Froud and Dave Nevat, and both caught fish over 20lb and even 30lb! Dave managed fish to 21lb & 15lb and Ray got hooked into a 37lb beauty, which took us out into the river in the coracle and put up a tremendous scrap!
On the same day in a different swim Josh Watkins was having his own red letter day, landing fish of 42lb, 21lb, 20lb and 15lb! As the temperatures continue to rise, the shallower faster moving waters of the rapids have fished really well, with lots of doubles coming from these swims, as we approach the end of the week it wouldn’t surprise me if one of these swims produced a real monster… If it does you’ll be the first to know!

Hi Dave not sure id you are back from India and Thailand yet? Just to say a big thank you for our trip, fishing was just perfect. More fish than we can remember. I have booked for 2012 and 2013. As I see places are booking up fast. Do you think this is because the other lodges are closed as the fishing restrictions stop them operating??. I think the fishing was better for it. Regards Andy

Hi Andy, Dave is still in Thailand, however I will pass on your kind comments when he returns. To answer your question yes we also think that the running and fishing of the river is better now there is less camps and anglers. Long may it continue. Regards Peter

Hi Neil, the fishing restrictions on the Cauvery, only applied to fishing the far bank. As far as we can see, this has only really had a positive effect, as there are larger area's where the Mahseer are free from angling pressure. We also enforce a 1 rod for 1 angler policy, and only allow 10 anglers at our camp at one time. Both these things relieve pressure on the river. As you can see by our blogs and Dave Plummers reports the fishing has been as good as ever! Cheers Chris.
