Tromso / Langsund sea fishing Norway

overview
Tromso/ Langsundet is just 45km north of Norways largest city, Tromso which is home to 66’000 people, Tromso is often referred to as ‘Paris of the North’ with its many bars, restaurants and outdoor cafes.

This destination is what we like to call weather proof and ideally suited to those who are looking for fishing experience, but have a tendency to suffer from sea ‘sickness’. The camp is situated in a wonderful environment and the facilitys are to the highest possible standard, with many people commenting on the fact that it’s the best facilities they have seen at any camp in Norway.

The complex consists of five large cabins, a filleting area to prepare your catch for the table, a service building with a bar. At the camp there is also the facility to buy petrol, fishing accessories, and to rent tackle and floatation suits.

Now the fishing in this area is best known for the Halibut in terms of weight, the average weight of these fish is between 20-30kg and they are regularly caught to over 50kg. Most of these fish get caught within the shelter of the fjord, but it is possible to venture out to the open sea, which is roughly an hours steaming, however a majority of these Halibut get caught within two minutes of the lodge.

Although the fishing is not quite up to the same standard as Soroya or Havoysund (In terms of fish, of specimen size) you still have an excellent chance at catching a fish of a lifetime. During the first season, in 2010, Cod to over 20kg were caught, Coalfish to 18kg and large Plaice to 2-4kg. A whole host of rarer species were also caught with Monkfish, Starry Rays & Spotted Wolfish all gracing our boats.

If you want a chance of landing a big Halibut we recommend fishing between the months of September & October, not that you won’t catch them earlier in the year, but these months seem to be the peak time.

The boats we use are among the very best available anywhere In Norway. Safety is our top priority as we want our guests to be able to feel safe at all times. The boats are fully stocked with top of the line electronics from Garmin & Lowrance. All the boats carry a colour chart plotter, sonar, radar and VHF. There is also complete safety equipment sets and for your angling needs you will find gaffs, halibut spears, rod holders etc. Our newest additions include fishing pliers and knives. The boats are fully loaded with fuel on arrival and it is expected that the guests reciprocate by topping up the tanks before leaving. There is a petrol station on the camp accepting most major credit cards. 4-5 people can fish from the 23.5ft Arronets, which come equipped with top quality, environmentally friendly four stroke engines - 135hp for the Arronets.

Throughout the year we always have at least 1 guides present on site to help you get the most out of your stay as well as to help you catch the big ones. Exclusive to Angling Direct Holidays our customers can have our guide in our boat for up to 2 days per week at no additional cost.
