So here we go again! Another 2 weeks in the book and once more the fishing held true Jurassic class! Read the fantastic fishing report and see the amazing pictures in full...
The first one of our guests to arrive was Mr Ronald Gotzen. He arrived at 8.30 pm Saturday night. With only minutes of daylight left he ran straight to the water and managed to land 20 nice fish in 45 minutes before it got too dark. At 5.30 the next morning Ronald had already had his morning coffee and was heading off towards the north part of the island. During the day we also covered the west bays and Cochinons bay. At midday our second guest Sam Haddon joined up with Ronald and between them they landed around 120 fish.
Since the water in the river was quite high and dirty we spent the third day fishing the west bays and Cochinos bay. We ended up with around 200 landed between our two guests.
Finally our three Swedish guests arrived to complete the group. The river was still too dirty to fish properly so we focused our fishing around the island to look for those big silvery ones! After moving to Cochinos Bay we finally found them and the day ended with more than 450 fish landed between the 6 anglers. For dinner we had a nice “asado” cooked by guide “Pollo the self acclaimed Especialista”!
The following day was really warm and with the river conditions improved we decided to try it out! With very little wind this day turned out to be perfect for some Dry Fly fishing, both in the river and the lake. I guess the fish liked those dries too since we managed to land 490 fish, the biggest one weighing in at 20 lbs caught by Swedish angler Berra Mårdh.
During our last two days the weather gods were really on our side and with perfect conditions we were able to fish basically every spot of the river and lake. The river really turned it on and on the last day a big school of fish decided to run up the river leaving us some fantastic fishing in the lower part. To top things off Berra Mårdh managed to catch yet another 20 lbs silvery beauty!
On our last night together our cook “Albert” served us some fantastic “empanadas” and red wine to celebrate yet another fantastic week!
