The Excitement Is Just Too Much To Resist...! Read Pete's Xmas Island Blog!

Apologies for the lack of communication! As I said Xmas Island is such a remote place!

After the last few days of excellent fishing on the flats no one wants to popper fish! The excitement of watching a huge GT, chase your fly in 2-3ft of water is too much to resist! Even though no one has landed one of these real monsters yet, we are still trying!

Today was a classic day GT fishing, it was one of those days when they just didn’t switch on, we hunted for them everywhere! It was one of those days where casting was kept to a minimum only letting them see the fly once we had spotted then. We all knew though that if we were to hook and land one of these fish it would be a fish of a lifetime. Unfortunately the day proved pretty uneventful and we only managed to get a follow from a couple of GT’s, but that is the nature of bit GT fishing! We still managed some nice bonefish to help keep a bend in our rod and the spirits up.

I think we will head back to the same flat tomorrow, I’ve got a feeling that it could produce, those big GT’s can’t feed for two days of the trot surely…?!
