Pica Zuro Dove Shooting
Dove Shooting Pica Zuro Lodge Cordoba Argentina
For those who have never undertaken a dove shooting trip in Cordoba it is an experience which must rank as a ‘must do’ in any keen shot’s ‘list of things to do before you die’. Quite apart from the sheer volume of doves in Cordoba, the variety of the shooting is staggering. Birds fly simultaneously in almost every direction, breaking, banking and swirling with many at heights that will test even the most expert of shots. The birds fly literally in waves, darkening the skies and whether you wish to focus on sheer numbers or go for the most challenging shots the options are yours.

The Cauvery River In India, Opens Its Doors To The Angling Public, With The Start Of The New Season

blog story: The Cauvery River In India, Opens Its Doors To The Angling Public, With The Start Of The New Season
Well it’s that time of year again, the time that the Cauvery river in India opens its doors to the angling public, with rods from England making the long trip over there in search of the mighty Mahseer.

Now this year has been a bit different from previous years, with various obstacles to over come, before we could ensure that the fishing would go ahead. The first of these issues, and the original plan was for a total ban on fishing on all rivers in India, however this never happened, a ban was imposed on certain stretches or river, but the overall effect was minimal. The second issue was the departure of the original camp manager and two of the staff, however with the addition of two new camp staff and the appointment of a new camp manager we are all ready to rock n roll.

Now I arrived last week, I think Thursday! The days have just flown by and I must admit my body clock is a little out of sync! On arrival at the camp I soon settled in to the camp life, the camp which will be my home for the next 7 weeks. I must say I was very impressed with both the camp and the new camp staff.

For the last 15 years, through the months of Jan/Feb/March, I have been a resisdent on the river Cauvery and the excitement that gripped me all those years ago, still gets me today. With the night before the first fishing day being a rather restless one, with all those fishing thoughts rushing through you head, will the Mahseer gods be good to us for another season…

The first days fishing was yesterday, and we all awoke at dawn, the river looked in perfect shape, and i think everyone was hopeful for a good day, you could say expectations were high!

These expectations, for once in fishing, were fulfilled! The first day was an absolute flyer! With the group landing a very very respectable total of 36 Mahseer. Huw James was top rod landing fish of 48lb and 44lb, close behind was Steve Jaques who landed a cracking fish of 45lb, Stu Worthy also landed a beautiful looking fish, a shade over 32lb.

All this on the first day…I think we could be in for a good season, well fingers crossed.

I will be sending over a fishing report every morning, so be sure to check it out on the blog page of the website, fingers crossed if I can get to grips with modern technology I may even be able to include a few pictures! But one step at a time…

All the Best DP (Dave Plummer)
