  Giant Mekong Catfish Fishing Thailand

  Normally, you would not associate the land of giants to any Asian country. You typically associate that to Africa, with animals like the elephant and the rhinoceros. However, you do not find giants in Asia on land; you find them in the water. Bung Sam Lan, just outside Bangkok, is one of the most extraordinary and famous fisheries in the world. It is a lake of about twenty acres and was converted seventeen years ago from a swamp. It is stocked with a huge variety of native Thai and imported fish: Giant Mekong Catfish to 100 kg, Striped Catfish to 15 kg, Chaophraya Giant Catfish to 30 kg, Giant Siamese Carp to 100 kg and Amazonian Arapaima from to 200 kg.
