Sturgeon Fishing British Columbia is an adventure you will always remember. Reaching weights exceeding 1000 pounds these Sturgeon inhabit the murky waters of the mighty Fraser. Special tackle and gear is required for these great fish, which is provided for you on your fishing adventure. A boat is a necessity as well and it must be rigged properly to fish for these giants.
Chilliwack in British Columbia is home to the famous Fraser River; well known for its Sturgeon fishing. Beginning as a trickle at Mount Robson near Jasper National Park, it tumbles northwest to Prince George where it swings abruptly southward to make its way to the Pacific Ocean.
This is big, deep fast river fishing at its very best. You will be using powerful quality tackle, fishing from superb boats in stunning surroundings. You will see eagles, perhaps bears and vast log rafts. You will see numerous Salmon and Sturgeon leaping out of the water and best of all you will see the rod tip twitch a few times then slowly pull over in the holder, signalling the start of another epic battle! The reel empties, perhaps for the second or third time and the anchor is released as you start to follow the fish downstream. These fish will test you and then push you some more! After 45 minutes plus you feel the fight will never end. The lactic acid has built up, it now burns the muscles in your arms; your head is sweating; but it does end and all the pain leads to sheer elation as you land a fish, heavier and like no other you have ever seen before. If you are worried about hooking a thousand pounder, rest easy. Most of the "larger" fish average between 100 and 200 pounds! However, our largest sturgeon exceeded 800 lbs! That is the exciting and mysterious aspect of sturgeon fishing; you just never know what is "nibbling" at the end of your line! For your best bet, (we believe there is nothing like it on the continent), we recommend the sturgeon-fishing holiday as the most memorable holiday you will ever take. Remember to eat your shredded wheat.
