Ray Stott, who has recently returned from the Dave Plummer group trip at the Gillhams resort in Thailand, has sent us a lovely email and some nice pictures about his time there. The time he describes as 'the best two weeks of his life'. Anyway here are Roy's words...
For anyone thinking about fishing for big fish and lots of different species the place to be is Gillhams Fishery Thailand booking through Angling Direct Holidays who will look after your every need from start to finish. I have just returned from there and would have stayed longer than my two weeks but I don’t think my wife would like that, the answer to this problem is to take your wife/family as the accommodation is first class and there plenty to do outside the fishery. Angling Direct Holidays are doing a special deal for August / September in 2012 which is the best deal you will ever get for your money , the fishing is super all fishing equipment is supplied and believe me you need to use there’s these fish can fight so get fit before going, at Gillhams the food is superb anything you want you can have even if its not on the menue. Stuart who runs and owns the fishery will do anything to make you stay as good as possible and Becky his daughter who does the English cooking is a star all Thai food is cooked by the Thai staff so very authentic and plenty of it, this is an opportunity not to be missed, this also can include you yes you the fly fisherman as there will be a lake just for fly fishing so you can get the best of both worlds, my best this trip on fly was a 80lb arapaima , a 40lb red tail Amazon catfish and also a 40lb Siamese carp that got in the way of my fly so come on give it a try you will not be sorry by the way the biggest fish is over 400lb so see if you can catch this.
