Perfect Holidays
The days of the fishing widow are numbered thanks to Angling Direct Holidays, a company specialising in holiday breaks for anglers and their families. Their latest initiative, ‘Divorce Free Holidays,’ gives fishing addicts the opportunity to indulge their passion without coming home to a note on the kitchen table.
Choosing from a large list of worldwide destinations, ADH has selected a list offering both great fishing and a host of activities for partners and families. Pick of the bunch is the ‘Twin Centres’ destination in Mexico, while the angler trolls the open ocean in search of marlin, sailfish and tuna, ‘non anglers can relax on a white sand beach while sipping a tequila sunrise. Boasting over 50 air-conditioned rooms (all of which have spectacular views of the Sea of Cortez) the Palmas hotel also offers a luxury swimming pool, international restaurant, scuba diving, snorkelling and the chance to stay in beachside condos boasting two bedrooms (ideal for families).
Also the angler does not have to worry about the quality of the fishing, so often a problem with package tour destinations, because directly outside the hotel is one of the best sport-fishing fleets on the planet. According to Matt Hayes, TV fishing presenter and professional angler, the fishing in this part of Mexico is hotter than the weather. ‘The Sea of Cortez is one of the great game fishing destinations’ says Matt ‘I can’t think of anywhere else offering such prolific fishing for marlin, sailfish, tuna and roosterfish…’
Flexibility is a key word in Angling Directs family fishing holiday vocabulary. In Mexico you can book as few or as many fishing days as you like. In between trips out on the boat you can also get some good fishing right off the beach, especially early in the morning and around sunset. Not only does this create holidays to suit varying budgets, it also means that fishermen can create a fishing plan that still allows quality time with the family.
Mexico, however, isn’t the only destination that Angling Directs has selected. Other destinations include Kenya where big game fishing can be combined with a big game safari. In Norway, the family can combine horseback riding and fishing for wild trout amidst the stunning mountain scenery. On this holiday, the family stay in a traditional Norwegian farmhouse and while the kids combine horse riding with helping out in the stables, Dad has a short amble across the road to fish on the Gaula River, the best Salmon River in Europe. Other destinations include Madeira, the US, Ireland, Sweden and Belize plus many more.
