Huge Norway Cod
Soroya Sea Fishing Norway
It is no wonder that the tourist board on Sørøya have dubbed their island: “The Land of the big fish”. It’s no wonder when the fishing is as varied with fish approaching the maximum size possible for their species in these nutrient rich waters surrounding Sørøya. Every year halibut approaching 220 pounds (100kg) are landed at Sørøya and for every big one, scores of smaller fish are caught. The cod fishing is truly exceptional and in 2008 more than 10 fish weighing over 60lbs were caught - The biggest cod of the season weighing in at an astounding 75lbs! In recent years the coalfish have become more abundant around Sørvaer and specimens ranging from 17 to 33lbs are no longer rare.

Panama Group Trip - The Last Report Of Another Fantastic Week!

blog story: Panama Group Trip - The Last Report Of Another Fantastic Week!
Day Four

Day four, and yet again the group got amongst the fish, Andy kicked off the day with an excellent 300lb Marlin. He also got amongst the Tuna, along with the rest of the group, landing them to 35lb on Poppers. Bob also got in on the popper action landing them up to 70lb! Gerrard and Mark on the other hand fished with baits and managed a pair of fish around the 160lb mark. It has rained hard all day today, but with action like this, it will take more than a bit of rain to dampen our spirits!

Day Five

Better weather today, for the last days fishing of the trip, and again loads of fish caught, most of which fell to the poppers. Simon was the first in on the action landing 5 cracking Roosters to 50lb, 1 Cubara, 1 Amber Jack and loads of other different species of Jacks. Andy and Gerrard had much of the same, although there Roosters were of a slightly smaller stamp, they did also even manage to hook and land a couple of sharks. Bob & Mark didn’t get any Roosters, but managed loads of blue jacks to 35lb, as well as Cubara to 25lbs and numerous Snappers, all on poppers. I cant believe i have already come to the end of my time in Panama, but I suppose when the fishing is as action packed as it has been time just flies by! I hope everyone has enjoyed it as much as I have, it really has been a ball.

Tight Lines Dave

P.S Why Don't you come and join me next year for my 2011 escorted weeks, and get in on some of the action! If this takes your fancy CLICK HERE to find out more.
