Wahoo Fishing

A little known fact is that during the quiet season in Madeira, in other words after the Marlin season has finished, there is fantastic Wahoo fishing. As anyone who has ever experienced the thrill and sheer excitement of being in a battle with such a creature will tell you, there is no rush like it, as a very large Wahoo smashes into your lures with such force and vigor, turning your sleeping reel into a pure screaming machine. Double and triple hook ups are not uncommon and when this happens all hell breaks loose and it's all hands on deck.

You will fish with one of our best captains, who has been fishing these Madeira coastal waters for over twelve years. Each day you will be picked up from your hotel by taxi and transferred to the marina, where our captain and crew will be waiting. You will get to experience 8 hours of fishing. Methods used normally involve 20 to 30lb class rods and multipliers, trolling Rapala's at high speed. Takes are fast and furious, so do not get caught sleeping. These fish are nicknamed the cheaters of the sea, due to their amazing turn of speed, if they turn and run towards you it's difficult to reel fast enough to keep the line tight.

When you are ready to book your holiday, our consultants will take down all particulars and take a deposit payment, please make sure that before making any booking that you have read our terms and conditions. At the time of the booking we will ask you to correctly spell the first and last name of each traveling member, as some flights will need to be ticketed at the time of booking and due to airline regulations no name changes can be made, once a ticket has been issued. On receipt of the deposit we will send the lead booker a “Booking Form” and a deposit receipt invoice which becomes the legal contract between Angling Direct Holidays and your party.

2. 20 to 30Lb heavy duty spin / stand up boat rod and reel - 25Lb mono.
3. Selection of lures, floater divers and sinkers for shore fishing.
4. 12 weight salt water fly rod and reel.
