Join Matt for an early morning cup of tea at his house in the Shropshire countryside before taking a short walk to the river, located just sixty yards from his front door. Fishing takes place on a beautiful stretch of the river Severn that contains big shoals of hard fighting barbel. Matt will teach you the methods for catching barbel on a big river using modern pellet and boilie baits, explaining rigs, how to play the fish and how to return them safely to the river. Fish of all sizes were caught on the 2006 trips, ranging from 2.5 lbs up to over double figures. One of Matt’s clients caught 2 doubles in a day! Autumn and winter barbel fishing available.

Tackle required
1.5 to 2lb Tc barbel rods, fixed spool reel with 8 to 10lb line. 1oz to 3oz leads, open end feeders, size 8 hooks, rod rests, power gum, beads etc.
