Ebro Catfish and Carp Fishing

The River Ebro is renowned as one of the mega Ton up Catfish waters in the world.

This is catfish fishing at its best, for the experienced or for those who have never even caught a catfish this trip is designed for you. On our trips an amazing one out of five catfish are over the magical TON-100lb. In fact to date, nobody who has been on a weeks holiday has failed to catch, in fact you would be unlucky to return home without a ton plus fish. This is where you can experience and feel the power of these mighty predatory fish. On a recent trip in Feb this year we popped over for two days just to see how the river was fishing. we fished only one day and landed six cats all over 100LB with the last one a cracking 156LB.

The river Ebro is world famous for its Catfish fishing, but one little known fact is in the upper reaches the Common Carp fishing is truly second to none. Over the years we have been fishing this area concentrating on the catfish with live baits. All the time while fishing we have seen hundreds of carp rolling, crashing and feeding right in the margins. Transfixed on the cat fishing it was always something we planned to do at a later date. It was only when we started to fish for the Catfish with pellets. (Which is still new to the upper reaches of the Ebro) that we started to catch Common Carp after Common Carp. These fish average over 22lb and in all probability is the first time they have ever been caught and by introducing small quantities of pellets you can catch these fish at an alarming occurrence.

This trip is truly designed for the more adventurous angler. The bank fishing for carp and cats in this area is still very much virginal and well worth the trip. Its also a great place to experiment with baiting and fishing techniques. Remember this trip is also for Catfish and with 1 out of every 5 fish being over the magical 100lb what else could you possibly want? Our trips are based in the town of Caspe which over looks the dammed part of the river Ebro. This is known by several names “The Top Lake”, “Lake Caspe”, Embalsa de Mequinenza” or “Mar de Aragon” The section of river that we fish starts at the large dam just above Mequinenza, from which the water backs up some 120km to the village of Escatron. In places it is over 3km wide and has depths over 70m. This trip includes all the basics you need. Your guide will transport you to different areas of the river. At the end of each day you will be transferred back to the main launch area. All tackle, rods reels bank sticks and buzzers are provided. (mostly Fox).

Catfish River Ebro Apartments

Your accommodation is based on a twin room in one of several modern, spacious three bedroom apartments in the town of Caspe, during our busier periods some over flow may be placed into a local hotel and during our quieter weeks you might get a room to yourself. All of the apartments have a fully equipped kitchen with sink, fridge freezer washing machine (a must to get all that slime off), oven and hob. We meet up for breakfast and some evening meals in one of the apartments large lounge/dining rooms. It also has a television and video (handy to play back your video recordings of your catch, and watch some of the videos supplied by previous clients). All meals are provided, either a light cereal breakfast on weekends or the full house cooked english breakfast during the week, you have a choice of packed lunches, evening meals are either home cooked or at one of the local restaurants. There's even draught lager on tap in the apartments for 1.5 Euro a pint. What else could you want.

What can you expect from your trip? You will be personally met at Zaragoza airport by our guides, transported to your accommodation where you will spend the rest of the day unpacking and relaxing. The next day you will transported to the river, where your tackle and guide will be waiting. Fishing is normally until dark but you will always receive a minimum 8 hours per day.
