Christmas Island is located 1300 miles south of Hawaii, just north of the equator. It was discovered by Captain Cook on Christmas Eve 1777 and is part of the Republic of Kiribati. This destination is world-class, miles of coral sand, iridescent lagoons and coconut palms, what seems like one of the smallest places on earth is actually a geographical giant, the planet's largest coral atoll. The island rests just above the waves on an ancient reef, a result of an undersea volcano thrusting it three miles up from the ocean floor. This place is a microcosm of terrestrial life, a divers and anglers paradise. It's also a tropical oasis and a nesting place for millions and millions of seabirds making the overall package a must see destination.

Located in the Central Pacific where life is relaxed and laid-back, the local people are friendly and helpful and are sure to greet you with smiles as you walk through the town. After only a few days, all your worries will be forgotten and you will just feel at one with the whole island. The local language is Kiribati, but most of the Gilbertese locals speak English extremely well and love to practice with you.

Activities that bring people to Christmas Island include; amazing bird watching, the crystal clear waters provide fantastic snorkeling and diving and of course the world famous saltwater flats and reef fishing that surround this atoll for Bonefish and the mighty Giant Trevally. It is also a place where one can just completely chill out and relax. Whatever you wish for, you are sure to find it at Christmas Island, one of them last truly remote holiday wildernesses.
