I cant believe we are already now in the fifth week of fishing, its just absolutely flown by! Anyway this week started well once again, with a fish over 30lb and a fish over 40lb in the first two days. Darren Slavin adding another 30lb fish to our tally, a cracking fish of 38lb, and Robert Perret going 3lb better! With a beauty of 41lb, Hugh also added another fish over 20lb with one just touching 28lb. Monday was an excellent day with 52 fish caught altogether. The river was still very low and the majority of fish definitely seemed to be in the deeper water, but this all changed as finally yesterday the river rose around 3 foot. When the river rises like this it generally turns the fish on and can produce some spectacular fishing and we didn’t have to wait long for some action!
Yesterday produced the biggest fish of the week so far and one of the biggest fish of the trip, Ian Whyte with a monster of 55lb! Steve Derby also added one of 22lb and we had numerous fish up to 15lb, for the second day running our fish total was over the 50 mark.
I think the river should continue to fish now with the extra water on, but as is fishing you just never know! Fingers crossed…
Speak Soon, tight lines,
Dave Plummer
