Norway

The friendly, down-to-earth people, unique scenery, bright summer nights and delightful snowy winters make Norway a unique country.

Norway is a country like no other country; its stunning landscape has been developed over thousands of years. Snow capped mountains descend into deep blue fjords and green forests stretch to its long, rugged coastline. Roads thread their way through an enchanting landscape, which is divided into 5 main regions, making Norway a diverse and beautiful country. Throughout the centuries, Norwegians have learned to relish nature and it has become a vital ingredient in the country’s national identity. This is what makes Norway still as interesting now, as it has always been. Visitors during winter can take advantage of the numerous world class ski resorts that are dotted around the country and be virtually guaranteed snow.

During summer, there are numerous attractions and activities to keep visitors busy – bustling cosmopolitan cities, quiet mountain villages, Michelin Star restaurants and mountain lodges serving traditional Norwegian food. In the North there is the unspoilt open country and the Fjords, the land of the Sami people. It will come as no surprise that fishing is very popular in Norway and an important part of Norwegian outdoor recreation traditions, with more than 450 productive rivers (the foremost spawning ground for Atlantic Salmon), hundreds of inland rivers and more than 200,000 lakes and tarns, just full of Trout and Grayling. Salmon fishing in Norway has long and glorious traditions – the first visitors from Britain were the so-called Salmon Lords who arrived in the early 19th century to fish for the big salmon. Members of the British aristocracy, they came to discover the magnificent landscape and fish the mighty rivers of Norway’s fjord region. In addition there is the large rugged coastline connecting to the deep inland fjords that are just full of fish like Cod, Coal fish and Pollock. Basically as a holiday destination Norway offers something for everyone.
