New Camp Record Wolfish & The Largest Cod Of The Summer Season landed at our lodges in Northern Norway! A few words and pictures in the write up below, from our guide Jimmy...
Again, since our last report, the fishing at our lodges in Northern Norway, has been excellent with many large Cod and Halibut caught at all 3 of the destinations. One thing these lodges are famous for is there consistancy to throw up big fish, in good numbers.
In Tromso the weather has been very up and down, but this hasn't stopped the fish feeding, with a new camp record Wolfish landed, a huge fish of 11.6kg! Some nice Cod have also been landed with two German guests landing fish over 20kg on two consecutive days. The guides son, Elias aged 8, also got in on the action, landing his personal best, he was retriving a small cod of around 1kg when the monster of 16kg snaffled it in mid water, he done ever so well, only having to pass the rod to his dad when the fish was right under the boat!
In Soroya we have seen the biggest Cod of the summer season landed, with a huge fish of 31.45kg! The fishing there as always, has been great for Cod, with hauls of fish over 20kg very common. Halibut fishing, has been a little slower with the odd fish to 25kg.
Finally in Havoysund, the Halibut mecca! they have also had some record catches, not in the size of fish but the amount, with 60 Halibut landed in 5 days fishing, this included a haul of 12 in one day, two of these fish measured in at 140cm and 150cm! Fingers crossed this crazy run continues right through the summer months!
