John & Lesley Shury's Report From The Gillhams Resort In Thailand!

John & Lesley Shury have just returned from there last minute trip to the Gillhams Resort in Thailand, and by the looks of the report and pictures it seems they had a great time out there!

Once again thanks are due to Peter Collingsworth who turned a disaster into one of the best holidays we have ever been on. Our original holiday plans that we had booked with another company were cancelled a week before we were due to fly to the USA. Not being able to decide where to go and being in a slight panic we decided to phone Angling Direct Holidays and Peter suggested Gillham's Resort in Thailand. While we changed our flights, Peter made all the other arrangements and off we went.

The resort is excellent and extremely well run, the accommodation clean and comfortable and the menu extensive and well cooked.The lake and surrounding area are beautiful and well tended.

We found the fishing guides knowledgeable, very helpful and always coming up with new ideas and tips to improve the fishing. Ignore their advice at your peril if you want to catch. They are really into their fishing and get as much pleasure watching you catch as your do.

The fish are all scale perfect and in excellent condition due to the care that's taken by the guides. They all need to be congratulated for all the hard work they put in.

For people who may think they are fishing a stock lake, yes you are, but it is the prettiest stock lake you will ever lay your eyes on.

Those of you who have never been blue water fishing because you can't handle the sea really ought to go to Gillhams because the power of some of these fish is equal to most of the blue water fish.

Now for the number crunchers among you: -

We shared a swim taking it in turns on the runs and totaled 78 fish with a combined weight of 2495lb. We caught 15 different species, leaving 32 species to catch on our next visit! We lost nearly as many fish as we caught and the anticipation of never knowing what was going to be on the end of the line just added to the excitement. It could be a 5 minute fight or over 35 minutes if you hooked a Mekong and the opportunity is there to catch a number of world record fish.

All we can say is another big thank you to Angling Direct Holidays and to Gillhams for allowing us to catch the fish that all anglers’ dreams are made of.
