Havoysund Sea Fishing Norway

overview
The area of Havoysund, is home to around 1200 people, and is a paradise for all types of sea anglers and nature lovers. Started in 2009 in collaboration with Havoysund Hotel, the area is now most famous for it’s unbelievable sea fishing, where the size and sheer numbers of large Cod and Halibut attracting hundreds of anglers each year.

Over looking the marina, the lodge is just a short walk away from a well stocked supermarket, post office, bank, petrol station and fast food restaurants. When staying at this destination a massive bonus is that your breakfast is included in the price (continental breakfast). If you choose to stay at the hotel, a nice feature for anglers not wanting a self catering package, the restaurant and bar is open seven days a week, morning to night.

The fishing destination of Havoysund really is a place for everyone, whether you are an experienced sea angler, a beginner or even a whole family who wish to try out a few days fishing, Havoysund will cater for your needs. The amount of fish in the area is immense, even by Norwegian standards, the Halibut fishing is particularly special, with fish from 10-100kg regularly caught by anglers every day. The biggest caught last year was a colossal fish of 165kg! The Cod are also there in abundance with huge numbers of fish between 3-15kg, wolfish and Haddock also make a regular appearance and also grow to specimen size, another nice surprise with the fishing in Havoysund area, which we often get asked about, is the unbelievable Plaice fishing. Just outside the camp in the shallow water of the shoreline large Plaice between 2-4kg are regularly caught, providing the angler with yet another opportunity for a catch of a life time. Either from boat or shore these speciman sized Plaice can be found.

The camp is located on a narrow straight which stretches from east to west, meaning you can always get out and fish, whatever the wind. You can either head east or west and take some shelter from the surrounding islands. The untapped potential of these area’s is simply huge, with many marks never seeing an anglers bait or lure!

The boats we use are among the very best available anywhere In Norway. Safety is our top priority as we want our guests to be able to feel safe at all times. When the conditions get really adverse in the extreme north of Norway it is a comfort to know that you have all the equipment necessary. The boats are fully stocked with top of the line electronics from Garmin & Lowrance. All the boats carry a colour chart plotter, sonar, radar and VHF. There is also complete safety equipment sets and for your angling needs you will find gaffs, halibut spears, rod holders etc. Positions for known productive spots are stored in the GPS units and together with expert knowledge contributed by our guides you will have all the information you need for an exceptional angling experience. The boats are fully loaded with fuel on arrival and it is expected that the guests reciprocate by topping up the tanks before leaving. There is a petrol station close to the camp accepting most major credit cards. 4-5 people can fish from the 23.5ft Arronets, which come equipped with top quality, environmentally friendly four stroke engines - 135hp for the Arronets.

Throughout the summer we have at least 1 guide present on site to help you get the most out of your stay as well as to help you catch the big ones. These guides can also be hired to take you fishing on the bigger Arronet boat 8.3 m by 2.7 m with 225 hp four stroke engines which carries 5 guests + the guide. Many productive reefs and flats are reached by a mere 5-20 minute boat ride from Havoysund but when the conditions are right you can venture even further out with one of our guides to the really hot spots. These longer trips, with transit times of up to 75 minutes, are coordinated between the guides and the guests and always with a sharp eye on the weather report. We never go out unless the weather is perfect and never with fewer than 2 boats.

Hire of fishing tackle and floatation suits is also very handy, as well as the range of fishing tackle accessories for sale on site.

Havoysund is one of the most Northern points in Norway, and within one hour you can get to the North Cape, which is one of the most wildlife rich places in the whole country. Here you will find Europe’s largest mountain birds, as well as Sea Eagles, Whales & Porpoises, which can all be observed close up in there natural environments.
