Golden Price Carp

This is a stunning looking fish with a brown to red body and dark brown stripes that run from front to back. Its fins are usually orange in color and it has a round head with small protruding lips. We believe this to be one of the prettier fish of the warmer tropics. Scale perfect in every detail.
Although these fish due to stockings can now be found in selected lakes and reservoirs. These fish love grubbing around so anywhere on these waters that are clean areas are likely to been visited by a Golden Price.
These fish mainly feeds on aquatic plants, insects and shelled mollusks. Due to their nature these fish spend the majority of their time feeding around weed and clear gravel areas.
Goldern Price spawns in winter (late December-early February) in big riverine deltas over sand and gravel substrate with water current of 1.3 m/sec. Hatching occurs in 32 hrs at 23°C An excellent food fish, sometimes consumed raw, but rather scarce so it fetches a high market. Attains 70 kg or more, but mostly marketed size nowadays are 5-20 kg.
Bottom fishing with mollusc's, maggots or scrimp. The use of small ledgers or float fishing on the bottom produces the best results. These fish are tough little fighters who make long powerful runs, which is why they make great sport on the right balance of tackle.
