The Florida Keys are renowned not only for their relaxed way of life but also to anglers as the "Sport fishing Capital of the World" with one of the largest offshore and back country fishing fleets per square mile than anywhere else. The reason for this; to the east of the Florida Keys lays the only living coral reef in the continental United States. It is located between four and seven miles offshore, running parallel to the Keys from Key Largo to the Dry Tortugas. It's this great combination of over eight hundred many low lying Islands, with living coral reefs connected to the deep blue ocean by miles of channels, that makes the perfect habitat for endless species of fish, from Sharks, Snook, Bonefish, Permit and the silver kings, the mighty Tarpon.
