Are you fishing in India next year, are you booked on any of our guided trips to do battle with the mightly Mahseer...? Then this might interest you, here's some information and pictures on the best rigs to use.
The rigs are pretty straight forward, and are kept that way to keep tackle loss to a minimum. The main things to remember are that your tackle, mono, trace, hooks and knots must all be up to the job. The river is extremely rocky and this fish don't take any prisoners!
Ade Kidell one of our regular customers and big barbel expert here in the uk, has produced a couple of useful dimages on the best Mahseer rig to use. The main part of the rig, is the lead, as it is pretty unique to Mahseer fishing. Designed to avoid getting stuck in the rocks, and designed to cost less than 'off' the shelf leads. He also shows you how to make them.
Take a look at the images below.

A classic simple Mahseer rig.

How to make the lead. Again very simple, cheap and as snag free as possible!

The finished rig in use, and ready to bait up!

Add a nice big ball of Ragi hookbait, the Mahseer love it!
Fingers crossed you'll catch a few of these! Gorgeous looking fish!
