08 February 12

Good morning all! Another glorious morning here on the banks of the Cauvery river, the suns out, temperatures are rising and the fish are biting! It’s a hard job but someone’s got to do it! I’m sure it’s a little warmer here than it currently is back home...

Europe

6 countries are available in Europe
  • Iceland

With 100 salmon rivers and untouched coastline, Iceland is the place that most fishermen wish to visit.

Think of Iceland and there are several familiar associations: hip Reykjavík, the beautiful therapeutic Blue Lagoon, or perhaps our musical exports Björk or Sigur Rós. But this land of boiling mud pools, spurting geysers, glaciers and waterfalls is also an adventure playground. Its breathtaking landscape is an inspiration to artists and photographers. Iceland is the least densely populated country in Europe, with a pure, unpolluted and truly magical landscape. Iceland’s summers are surprisingly warm, lush and green, with days lengthening until midsummer, when the sun dips down to the horizon but never sets. During winter you can marvel at the amazing, undulating green, blue, yellow and pink lights of the aurora in the night sky, and the winters are not as cold as you might imagine. Regardless of when you visit, you can be assured of the warmth of the Icelanders’ welcome and their desire to share their culture and make every effort to ensure that your stay is a pleasant one.
  • Ireland

Ireland is one of the most popular sport fishing destinations in Europe and for good reason.

The massive variety and quality of fishing has given the country an enviable reputation, for it seems everywhere you turn there’s an ideal location to be fished. Even the climate is kind to the angler, with temperate summers, mild winters and moderate rainfall throughout the year. The warming influence of the North Atlantic Drift which washes the south west coast, gives a milder climate than the geographical situation would indicate. The result is a fabulous mix of cold and warm water fish, capable of exciting both the specialist angler and casual fisherman on a family holiday.
  • Madeira

Madeira Island, a safe haven from today's modern society and just a short travelling distance from most European major cities.

With its jagged mountains falling in a series of lush green terraces to the sea, Madeira is unquestionably beautiful. Madeira offers plenty of options for those who want to leave the island - fishing, whale spotting, diving and wind surfing are all easily accessible from Funchal. Step outside your hotel and you’ll soon feel like a native of Madeira’s bustling capital. Just like residents, you can admire the flowers in the nearby Municipal Gardens, pop into the cathedral or browse for bargains at the local market.
  • Norway

Norway is characterised by its striking fjords - unimaginably deep water trenches where the highest mountains and cliffs literally rise right out of the sea.

Think of the narrowest possible stretch of water in the most stunning, most dramatic and most peaceful of landscapes and you have a Norwegian fjord. Running in to the fjords are snow melt rivers some of which like the Gaula River are world famous for its Salmon runs. The abundance of Sea and Salmon fishing creates a very serious ‘wow’ factor where the scenery literally takes your breath away making this country ideal for outdoor adventures.
  • Spain

Spain is not just about high rise buildings and night clubs; you can still find plenty of towns and cities that lie untouched, retaining their own distinctive lifestyle, where the links to old style agriculture still exist.

Orange and lemon groves, almond trees, thousands of acres of vines and millions of olive trees can still be found. In some areas it hardly ever rains and this climate is another reason why so many people head there each year for their annual holiday, and ever increasingly, why people are upping their roots and emigrating.
  • Sweden

The largest Scandinavian country, Sweden stretches from latitudes similar to the north of England right up to the Arctic Circle and beyond.

It is also a land of relatively large areas of wilderness, with huge forests and thousands of lakes with simple log cabins scattered along the shores. The country's great variety of fish and abundance of good fishing waters have led to increasing numbers of anglers visiting Sweden. The thrill of being able to catch fish in their natural environments, and on their terms, is the fulfillment of many a visiting angler's dream in Sweden - and these fish can be king-size!
