Escorted Fishing Florida Keys
fishing overview
Each year, Angling Direct Holiday’s head guide Dave Plummer, escorts a limited number of anglers to the world famous Florida Keys. For many years, this area has been and remains one of the top fishing locations anywhere in the world.
If the sheer amount of large Tarpon, big Bonefish and punishing Permit weren’t enough, there are always the great Sharks, Lemons, Black tips, Nurse Sharks and Redfish, Stingrays, Jacks and the obligatory Barracudas to keep you busy. With Dave, the emphasis on these trips is great sport fishing, as all fishing is done with either light spinning gear or 20Ibs to 30Ibs class boat rods. In addition, as this is one of our many destinations you can rest assure that you will not only be staying and fishing with a top quality guide but also using all the latest state of the art fishing tackle. It is no wonder that with Dave's vast experience of catering for groups of anglers and his wealth of guiding experience in the Keys makes these escorted trips so popular. The fishing can be broken down into four sections: Bonefish, Tarpon, Permit and other Back Country fishing. Bonefish fishing consists of poling along gin clear flats, sight casting to tailing Bonefish in 6 to 12 inches of water. It can be the most heart stopping experience a fisherman can endure. The Tarpon are truly one of the most magnificent fish that occupy the waters of the Florida Keys. There are a several ways that you can fish for Tarpon; Poling along shallow water flats in search of cruising or laid up fish, casting small crabs, shrimp and live bait, or those with nerves of steel can try to catch one of these 100lb fish on a fly. Then there is the Permit, the trophy of the flats, pound for pound one of the strongest fish in the world. The backcountry fishing is like a different world and can produce numerous species of fish. Here there are more sharks than you can handle, some as big as the boat, plus 100lb plus Sting Rays, Snook, Redfish and back breaking Grouper. One thing is for sure, while fishing with Dave in the Keys, is that the hardest decision you make, is what to pursue each day.
