Egypt
Egypt is not just about monuments, it has much more to offer the modern traveller. From the fascinating sights of the Pharaohs on the banks of the river Nile to the glorious beaches of the Red Sea at Sharm El Sheikh, that boast some of the best snorkelling and diving in the World.
Add to this the fantastic Nile Perch fishing on the mighty Lake Nasser plus the bustling modern city of Cairo and its many bazaars, fantastic restaurants and lively nightlife and you have, in Egypt, a land of great contrast where ancient and modern life exist side by side. The River Nile, considered the life blood of Egypt, divides the country in two, from Lake Nasser, in the south, to the Nile Delta, in the north. This River gives life to an otherwise barren landscape and has in the past been the centre of numerous Egyptian tales. Egypt never fails to entice visitors and must rank as one of the most spectacular sightseeing destinations in the world. Cairo, the capital, holds much of this fascination, for in Cairo you can visit the magnificent mask of King Tutankhamen at the Egyptian Museum, the spectacular Pyramids at Giza, along with the Sphinx.
The damming of the river Nile at Aswan back in the 1960's resulted in the surrounding area being totally flooded; making one of the largest man made lakes in history. It also created the best habitat for what must be one of the ultimate predators, the Nile Perch. Over the years these fish have over the years increased in size with fish just topping the 200lb mark. So will it be for the historical sights or the mythical Nile Perch that you visit? Whatever you decide, one thing is for sure, this holiday will stimulate your mind, exhaust your muscles, captivate your heart and steal your soul.
