Dear Members,

"Hello and welcome to the first part of my round the world diary snippets which at the moment is focusing on India.. For the first couple of trips of the year the majority of fish have been caught on 'Ragi' paste with the odd one being caught on live bait. Standard and simple gear has been doing the business. Uptide rods 4-10oz, a multiplier reel coupled with 40lb mono. Hooks are 7/0 Owners. Evening sessions have proved better than morning sessions with many of the big fish being caught just on dusk. The weather is starting to warm up and in the shade you are looking around 91C by mid-afternoon, which means the river water is warming up nicely. There has been some great fish caught this last month and I look forward to the next trip to see what surprises we have in store.

Till next time,

Be lucky

Dave Plummer"

The first trip of the year opened the season
in great style. Over 219 Mahseer were caught, with sixteen being over 30lb. The biggest fish went to Bill Rolph with a fantastic 69lb Mahseer. Other fish caught included a 64lb, 55lb, 51lb, 40lb, 47lb, 34lb, 35lb, 39lb, 34lb, 35lb, 35lb, 35lb, 35lb and 39lb
.
The second trip of the season also proved a great success with a 124 mahseer, with 8 being over 30lb. Mick Rump caught a fantastic 62lber and Colin Belton also had a lovely 52lb.

Majority of the fish on both trips have been caught on 'Ragi' paste with the odd one caught on live bait.

" Just a note to say I made it home from India to the antipodes safe and sound. It was a great trip and all our expectations were fulfilled or exceeded. The Aussie contingent outfished the 'Poms', as is to be expected, and we all made new friends in fishing. That Dave Plummer is a great guy. I am looking forward to more adventures with him in Florida and Panama at least, if he will have me! Thanks again to Angling Direct for all the organised work you put in to get these trips up and running, especially to such unpredictable places as India.
All the best,

Jeff Mount"

What about Northern India? We offer great trips fishing on the Ramganga river too.
The Himalayan region in the Garhwal and Kumaon hills is probably one of the last refuges of truly wild mahseer. The only other area where the fish thrive is in southern India on the River Cauvery. The latter is however a far less challenging environment than the upper valleys of the Himalayas. Corbett Ramganga Resort is situated on the northern boundary of famous Corbett National Park, right on the banks of the clear river Ramganga, which is famous world over for Mahseer and Catfish. An ideal place surrounded by dense forest on all sides with the river Ramganga flowing within the boundary, it’s the greatest fishing venue you may visit in India.
