After reports of great fishing for the first part of Dave Plummers guided week in Gillhams, it was fingers crossed that the second half of the week was as action packed! By the sound of his latest reports it hasn't disappointed!
The boys are really settling in now and the sun is shining! August 9th 2011 - Ken Scott caught a 150lb Mekong catfish that fought like a demon and broke his rod! But he still managed to land it, only when he got in the lake for photos it went mental slapped him around the face and broke free before a picture was taken. Maybe one of the guests got a picture will know tomorrow. Martin Hodgkinson got off to a slow start but came good later with 2 x Siamese carp to 55lbs, 1 x Black Pacu of 22lb, 1 x Amazon Red Tail Catfish of 55lbs and lost another Arapaima at the net. Ray Stott had a 20lb Black Pacu a 25lb Amazon Red Tail Catfish and finished the day with a 230lb Arapaima. Graham Bradford had 3 x Siamese Carp to 40lbs. Derek Smedley caught 3 x Carp to 70lb 1 x Amazon Red Tail Catfish and 1 x Asian Red Tail Catfish. They are all getting some confidence and I reckon the next few days will get even better!
August 10th 2011 - Well things are happening here now apart from poor old Barry Lacey who keeps blanking in every swim! Martin Hodgkinson just one Amazon Red Tail Catfish 26lb, Ken Scott 2x Siamese Carp 50lb and 55lb plus an Amazon Red Tail Catfish. Ray Stott landed a rare Chinese Seer Fish and one Amazon Red Tail Catfish. Derek Smedley 1x Black Pacu, 1 x Spotted Featherback and 1 x Amazon Red Tail Catfish. Graham Bradford had his red letter, Graham landed 2 x Arapaima 180lb and 90lb, 6x Amazon Red Tail Catfish, 1 x Shovel Nosed Spotted Sorubim and a magnificent 45lb Tambaqui.
August 11th 2011 - The fishing came good for Barry Lacey at last he landed eight Amazon Red Tail Catfish to 55lb, and unfortunately lost a big Arapaima. Martin Hodgkinsons luck continues with 110lb Arapaima, a 50lb Amazon Red Tail and three 30lb Siamese Carp. Ray Stott got amongst the Siamese Carp today with 2 x 30lb 1x 40lb and finished on a high with a fish we estimated at 70lb! The carp are feeding at the moment for the lads with another two falling to Graham Bradford at 35lb and 40lb. Derek Smedley just one Pacu today and Ken Scott two Siamese Carp to 30lb. I have included a picture of Ray Stott from yesterday with a rare Chinese seer fish.
A little qutoe for you all - 'This is the best commercial fishery I have ever been too...!'
