Dave Plummer Reports At The End Of The First Week In India!
Well sorry for such a late report, the last few days of the first week have been crazy, with lots and lots of fish caught! I can’t believe it’s already Sunday and that tomorrow we will be starting the second weeks fishing!
We finished with over 400 fish last week, as the river really started to turn on, this included two fish over 50lb, a handful over 30lb and lots over 20lb. Most fish have been taken on Rahgi, but a few have also been tempted by small Chillwa livebaits. A few catches that are fresh in the memory include a cracking Mahseer of 55lb for Martin Brown, a 31lb fish for Brian Naylor and a 28lber for Hugh Miles. One fish that I think will stay in everyone’s memory, especially Gerry Hinghams, was his 50lb 2oz Mahseer as this monster was hooked and landed on a carp rod, using 18lb line and a 1/0 hook. Gerry battled with the fish for nearly two hours before finally banking the fish one mile down river from where he had hooked it! Crazy stuff and top angling, I think everyone had a few drinks to celebrate such a wonderful capture!
The river has rose a further six inches and already this evening anglers have been amongst the fish with Rob Brown landing a brace of fish over 20lb, the biggest being a few ounces over 22lb, Steve Derby also had another 20lber.
Everything so far has been fantastic, am extra impressed with the camp this year to. Anyway I better get some rest, I’m sure we’ll have another action packed day ahead tomorrow!
