Darren 'Breg' Bremners Latest Florida Update!

blog story: Darren 'Breg' Bremners Latest Florida Update!
As we reported earlier in the week, Angling Direct Holidays regular Darren Breg Bremner is currently out in Florida, fishing the keys with Our guide Dave Plummber, here's his latest fishing update, along with some nice pictures...

Monday evening

The evening session was a bit of a blow out for me as I blanked, I did get one pick up but it threw the hook. Rob had 2 fish though, one at 140 and another at 120lb. The 140lb fish ran him a merry dance, the fight must have lasted at least 40 minutes and dragged us near as damn it 2 miles. Great night all the same.

Tuesday morning

Again I couldn't seem to hook up but Rob landed another 2 nice fish, a 120lb fish and a 110lb fish. The 120lb fish was very strong and after towing us about for 50 minutes to an hour, it went through the bridges and broke off.

Tuesday evening

Things were back on track with loads of fish moving all over the place. Rob and I had 2 fish each. The first one I had was about 120lb again and it done the same to me as Rob's had in the morning, running us through the bridges, but I was a bit luckier as the fish just ran right through so we thought that we had it but obviously the tarpon had a very different idea! I swear, I'd have had more luck trying to pull back a freight train. Rob then had a 90lb and 130lb fish, both of which put up the usual long hard tussles. We then moved over nearer to the house before it got too dark as the waves were picking up so it's safer for us all to be that bit closer. This time it was my turn again and the 110lb fish done the usual long hard runs and big jumps. While the fish was near the boat it took a jump and nearly boarded the boat with us! When Dave unhooked the fish at the side of the boat he showed me the hook and man was I lucky, it was nearly straight! Now bearing in mind that it is all Owner circle hooks that are used, it just shows the strength of these fish.

Anyone reading this and thinking about getting themselves over to Florida should think no longer, I've been lucky enough to fish several destinations over the past year and can say without a doubt that these Tarpon give one of the best fights that you'll get and Dave is the man to get you on them!!
