HONOLULU BEACH PARADISE
Crystal clear waters, beautiful white sand plus a vast range of all.
WRECKS
South of the airport is the Bay of Wrecks, a watery grave for unlucky 19th century square riggers (the site cannot be dived). There is also a Korean wreck on the south-eastern tip of the island.
COOK ISLAND
Across the channel from London, Cook Island is home to more than 18 varieties of seabird. A permit and guide are needed to visit; permits can be bought at The Fish & Wildlife Service in the Ministry of Line and Phoenix Development Building.
DIVING
Cook Island and Paris channels are superb dive sites where a wide range of species can be viewed. Christmas Island Divers Association is Kiribati's premier eco-tour operator.
HANDCRAFTS
Kiribati is said to have the finest crafts in the South Pacific; the weaving is particularly noted. Souvenirs such as shark-teeth swords, fans, mats, trays and wooden spears can be bought from outlets on Tarawa and Christmas Island.
ALA MOANA BEACH PARK AND MAGIC ISLAND
Ala Moana Beach Park sprawls across 100 acres in the midst of Honolulu, while Magic Island comprises about 30 acres of the park. Both areas are immensely popular, and folks frequently take advantage of the beaches, picnic areas, and jogging and biking paths.
WAIKIKI AQUARIUM
Set along the Waikiki coastline, it seeks not only to entertain visitors but to educate them and to preserve delicate marine species. Tropical Pacific creatures are its main focus, and coral propagation is a prominent goal. Exhibits on reef life and Hawaiian monk seals are among the foremost displays, and you'll also encounter eels, turtles, sharks plus a variety of fish.
