Blue Marlin Fishing Madeira
fishing overview
Madeira has over the past years produced some of the worlds largest Blue Marlin, which can be seen by the results of the annual July 4th Blue Marlin World Cup. In 1995, 1996, 1997 Madeira was the World Cup winner. Then for some strange reason Madeira went off the boil, this was no strange event to the local Tuna fisherman, for they had seen it all before, to them it was simply a 10 year cycle where the currents change and keep the bait and therefore the Marlin, to far offshore for day fishing charters. How right could these fisherman be, for back in 2007 the fish started to put back an appearance, then in 2008 the bite was stronger and now the end of the 2009 season things are back on full time with the whole Marlin fishing world talking about Madeira again. If you ever wanted a chance of hooking and landing the biggest Blue marlin of your life there is no better time than now. Watching a large blue coming behind one of your lures as it hits out with its slashing bill with such force and vigour, before turning your sleeping reel into a screaming machine, is simply thrilling.
The Marlin season in Madeira runs from May through to October, with a fish average of about 700 lbs. About one in every ten, is that fish of a lifetime, a grander Blue Marlin. You will fish with one of our best captains Peter Bristow who has been fishing on boats around the world for over thirty-eight years; his experience and knowledge is the best. He has witnessed more Blue Marlin than most captains around the world.
You will also find the best Mid-Atlantic big game fishing crew and equipment to be found anywhere in Madeira. For experienced anglers, or for those wishing for an introduction to big game fishing, under his careful instruction, you can learn to experience the thrill of the rod and reel while doing battle with your Blue Marlin. Our boat is fully equipped for all sport fishing requirements and ready for you to cruise the bountiful waters of Madeira, for those record size fish.
