Australia

Australia has come a long way since the days when Captain Cook stumbled ashore to find an Aboriginal way of life that went back for tens of thousands of years. Away from the cities, Australia has a stunningly diverse landscape which boasts everything from vast barren deserts where emus and kangaroos bound through the arid surroundings, to tropical rainforests, rugged mountains and sparkling beaches.

But what about the fishing? Australia has countless areas to explore and fish, though none can compete, for sheer remoteness and virginal fishing with the magical Northern Territories. The fishing in the Northern Territories is considered to be one of the best tropical fly fishing destinations in the world. Its waters provide a variety of saltwater and freshwater fly fishing environments for both the experienced and novice fly angler. Fly fishing experiences range from sight casting in the clear flats, hooking pelagic fish in the blue water to precision casting amongst the mangroves. There are hundreds of kilometres of unspoilt coastline for you to explore, or just sit back and relax in the tranquility of a remote wilderness environment. The bays, inlets, rocky headlands, coral reefs and billabongs of the Northern Territories provide opportunities to fish for 250 recorded species, including Barramundi (famous for high leaps and strong runs), Spanish Mackerel, Barracuda, Trevally, Coral Trout, Golden Snapper, Jewie, Red Emperor, Cod, Queen fish and many species of Shark. Knowledgeable fishing guides with first-hand experience of seasonal and tidal conditions will do their best to ensure that the expectations of the individual angler are met, resulting in a truly unique 'fishing adventure' in one of Australia's most remote and untouched locations.
