As the song by Led Zepplin Goes… communication breakdown!
Finally I can report on the last few days fishing, after experiencing a few communication problems, we are now back up and running! As the island is so remote there is absolutely no phone signal, so it’s a trip to the only internet café on the island to report, well when it’s open and all working!
The fishing hasn’t disappointed, with everyone catching and few and everyone having great time. The last three days we have mostly fly fished, which has been particularly productive, as conditions have been good, the only difficult day was yesterday as the island was covered in broken cloud, this made it slightly harder to spot the fish, however the guides didn’t let us down, and we still managed another successful session.
We have had loads of Bonefish to around 4lb, but with some cracking fish over the 6lb mark mixed in, the Queenfish and Trevally have also been there in abundance like normal. The highlight of the last few days has been a pair of big GT’s, landed on the fly. I managed the first one, a cracking fish around the 35lb mark, and Malcolm managed one around the 40lb mark. John also got in on the action hooking one of around 40lb, but unfortunately after playing the fish for a good ten minutes the hooks pulled.
Overall its been a cracking few days, I really hope it keeps up like this, as the fishing has been like nothing else! The suns out, the fish are biting, and the customers are having a great time. I really hope the communication problems have been sorted and hopefully I will be reporting back tomorrow!
Fingers Crossed! Peter C
