With two days fishing left and with the weather looking spot on for Tarpon, they headed away from the back country and out to some of Dave's favourite Tarpon marks. Here's a quick write up of Friday and Saturday...
Friday morning and everyone was up and about at first light, by 4am we were on our way to the first fishing mark of the morning. With the weather spot on we were confident of some Tarpon and we were correct, as after around an hour we had our first strike, not a big fish but a nice Tarpon all the same, however lady luck wasn't on our side and the fish managed to throw the hooks. This was one of five Tarpon that managed to shed the hooks in the morning, with a further two at night doing the same. Meaning seven Tarpon hooked and none landed. Fishing for Tarpon can be frustrating work, as there hard bony mouths can be difficult to penetrate, there acrobatics during the fight, do nothing to help either! All these factors though, are what make the fish so popular and desirable to catch...
Anyway we only had to wait 24 hours before all the lost fish were forgotten, as Dan finally hooked and landed one of 150lbs and Clive had one slightly bigger, probably a little over 160lb. This was a right result and produced smiles all around, a perfect way to end a great week. I hope the customers enjoyed it as much as I did!
Remember if you wish to join me out here in Florida we still have some spaces left, give us a call on: 01603 407596.
Please find attached below some pictures of some Sharks we had whilst fishing for the Tarpon during the day on the Friday. I should have some pictures from Saturday coming soon!
