Abaco Lodge Fishing report

Abaco Lodge is the newest addition to our portfolio. We could not have chosen a better location for our second bonefish fishing lodge in Bahamas. Located in the heart of the Marls with access to the diverse fisheries throughout Abaco we have it all, from numbers to size, “angler friendly” to tight lipped giants. The new fleet of Hells Bay skiffs are the best in the Bahamas, single rooms are standard, and the food and service are what you have come to expect from our top quality lodges. 

It has been an exciting first month here in Abaco, filming for an upcoming series on ESPN starring Lefty Kreh, Tom Brokaw, Michael Keaton, Yvon Chouinard, and Thomas McGuane. Pirates of the Flats will be a six show series that airs in January on ESPN Outdoors. Fishing was phenomenal, the stars were exactly that, and the unedited footage is amazing. One of the stars came in one day and said, “It was the best bonefish fishing I have ever seen,” what a way to start a lodge and a show. 

Outside of the filming project, fishing has been remarkably good. A tough winter of wind has finally lain down and the fishing picked up as soon as the weather cleared. Two anglers hooked 30 fish and had 23 to the boat in one day. Another boat went in search of bigger fish and found them –there were shots at giants but they were a little uncooperative, nonetheless they managed a few 6-7 pounders to the boat.
