A Crazy Weeks Fishing In India, Read Dave Plummers Full Report!
Apologies for the lack of India reports this week, we have been so busy in the office I haven’t had a chance to write up Dave’s reports, so here we go with a mamouth one for the week:
This week on the group I was joined by Angling Direct Holidays consultant Paul Steven’s who was out here to see what India has to offer, he was keen to get stuck in and hopefully land his first Mahseer.
The first few days of the week started well, the river levels were normal, and the temperatures started to rise, there was also some nice fish caught. Mick Collum landed a cracking fish of 59lb, which really got everyone buzzing, Mark Swaby also added another fish over 20lb with one just scrapping 21lb.
Paul had to wait a while for his first proper fish, but wasted no time in between enjoying some light tackle sport with some small Mahseer to around 10lb. His first ‘proper’ experience with an Indian Mahseer came on Tuesday, when fishing Croc Rock, with small livebaits, he landed his first twenty, a fish of 27lb. On the same day there was a double celebration as Bill Rolfe landed a huge Golden Mahseer of 47lb, from a swim known as the beach. I know this capture meant a lot to Bill, as Golden Mahseer are elusive compared to there Silver brothers, and in all the years Bill has been coming out here he has always been after a big Golden.
The big fish have continued to show all week with four fish over 40lb and one over 50lb. Nathon Dixon, was the lucky angler who banked the 50lb, with Richard Beddar landing a cracking pair of fish of 44lb and 49lb, what a brace! Paul was also in on the act again, not happy with his 27lber early in the week, he smashed his PB by massive 22lb, landing a fish at just over 49lb. Mark Swaby also added one a few ounces over the 30lb mark.
Over the last few days the river has dropped slightly and the temperatures continue to rise, but as I reflect on a crazy weeks fishing all I can wonder is what the next will bring…
